Frost & Sullivan Recognizes Cirion with the 2023 Company of the Year Award in the Latin American managed SD-WAN industry

MIAMI, FL, May, 29, 2023 –Frost & Sullivan awarded Cirion Technologies with this year’s Best Practices Company of the Year Award in the Latin American managed SD-WAN industry, recognizing Cirion for its consistent growth strategy, based on a visionary understanding of the future and effectively address new challenges and opportunities.

Enterprises in Latin America are accelerating digital transformation initiatives, moving core applications to the cloud, and enabling work from anywhere.

Consequently, businesses across industries are embracing software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) services as an integral part of their WAN transformation strategy, largely to gain cost and operational efficiencies.

Cirion captured a first-mover advantage in bringing to market a first-of-its-kind product and agreement package in a software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) solution in Latin America, trusting that this technology would provide a leap in quality for WANs. Enabling the next generation of network optimization, Cirion’s SD-WAN empowers organizations with intelligent routing, faster branch site deployment, centralized policy management, and direct internet connectivity to public clouds and cloud applications.

“Cirion Technologies’ predecessor company, Lumen Technologies, was one of the first network providers in the region to launch a standard SD-WAN service. The forward-looking move back in 2019 demonstrated the company’s commitment to innovation and in addressing unmet market demands,” said Leandro Agion, Industry Director for Frost & Sullivan.

Cirion´s digital infrastructure enables SD-WAN users to construct secure private networks across a combination of public and private infrastructures, including site-to-site encryption, regardless of the underlying access or transport technologies. The solution enables centralized management and control for businesses to route traffic on an application-by-application basis or by access type, enabling the connectivity of sites through a variety of backbone connections.

Additionally, the SD-WAN solution enhances enterprise network resources with the capacity to handle multiple types of access, such as broadband, dedicated Internet, and MPLS.

As part of its analysis, Frost & Sullivan found that Cirion has a strong base of network assets in Latin America to leverage across the SD-WAN portfolio, has strong partnerships with leading SD-WAN vendors, and has its own VNF platform. Moreover, Cirion is a market leader in the B2B segment and can target a wide scope of customer segments by providing the choice to deploy services that best suit customers’ price points and application requirements.

Cirion adopts a flexible strategy for SD-WAN service implementation, by partnering with different technology providers such as Versa Networks, Cisco SD-WAN (Ex-Viptela), Cisco Meraki, Fortinet and Velocloud (as VMware), to reach customers of multiple segments.

The company’s SD-WAN service enable a new level of visibility and control over applications and traffic, prioritizing business-critical elements. Furthermore, the early launch of its SASE offering is a competitive advantage for Cirion because SD-WAN managed service providers must offer a clear roadmap to SASE.

This recognition by Frost & Sullivan validates our efforts to deliver a simple enterprise user experience with sophisticated capabilities and reinforces Cirion’s ongoing leadership in delivering a wide range of services that meet our customers’ needs, all while providing a high level of service,” said Leonardo Barbero, President & EVP of Products and Sales for Cirion Technologies. “Cirion is committed to accompany Latin American businesses to achieve their technological goals and continue on their digital transformation journeys.”

Cirion Expands Network and Data Centers Across Latin America

Through its extensive fiber footprint, data centers and network assets, Cirion aims to assist companies of Latin America’s most relevant industries in their path to digital transformation.

MIAMI, April 11, 2023 – To better serve the growing demands of our customers and continue to migrate workloads to hybrid cloud solutions, Cirion, a leading digital infrastructure and technology provider, announced the expansion of its fiber network and data center capabilities across Latin America.

The expansions include new data centers and network infrastructure, with the addition of several new data centers across Latin America which will be interconnected with Cirion´s existing data centers, providing customers with increased redundancy and disaster recovery capabilities.

“We believe in the development of the economies of the region, supporting digital business models,” said Facundo Castro, CEO of Cirion Technologies. “As Latin America’s leading digital infrastructure and technology provider, we are dedicated to providing our customers with the highest quality services and technologies and these expansions reflect Cirion´s continued commitment to providing our customers with the most comprehensive suite of solutions to support their digital transformation across the region.”

During 2022, Cirion data centers facilities in São Paulo (Brazil), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Quito (Ecuador), Cali (Colombia) and Lima (Peru) had approximately a 12% increase in installed capacity. In 2023 the expansion plans continue with the construction of a new data center facility in the Quilicura region in Santiago (Chile), another one in the industrial district of Macropolis in Lurin (Perú) and a new building in Cotia, São Paulo, in addition to the expansion of the installed capacity of the data center in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). Together, they will increase more than 6 MW of capacity in 2023. Cirion data centers are implementing new monitoring infrastructure, control and management services while offering customers additional space for housing servers, networking devices and other computing equipment.

Furthermore, to ensure the highest level of quality and compliance with rigorous international standards, our regional data centers successfully completed 3 new certification processes and received 47 recertifications throughout 2022.

In 2023 Cirion is launching its new Bare Metal Cloud solution, service that offers automated computational capacity, located close to large commercial centers, so that companies’ solutions enjoy very low latency. With Bare Metal Cloud, Cirion brings greater cloud agility to computing infrastructure through an innovative “as a service” capability. This technology will initially be available to Cirion customers throughout Brazil with computing needs in São Paulo as of March, and the northeast region, as of April. And throughout the year, it will be available in the other countries of the region.

Regarding connectivity, Cirion has expanded its Latin America fiber network by deploying 1,187 kilometers of optical fiber, added 74 Tb/s of capacity to our terrestrial optical networks, and added peering capacity, allowing more than 27 Tb/s exchanges with other providers. In 2023, we will increase our submarine capacity by more than 23Tb in the different segments of the submarine cables, bringing our submarine network to a total capacity of 132 TB.

Moreover, 6 new nodes were added to the more than 700 of our network in Latin America to offer more services to more users (each new node represents a new market).

Additionally, the company recently announced it is investing in a high bandwidth Ethernet architecture to enhance experiences on its platform and deliver updated Ethernet services to more than 14 major Latin American cities, and the expansion of its secure SD-WAN Managed Service, delivering organizations with networks and security in a single, high-value-added converging solution.

“Our customers need faster, more accessible bandwidth to support technologies such as Internet of Things, augmented reality, voice and video apps, particularly in those industries where latency is critical, such as entertainment, content creation, e-commerce, and public cloud service providers,” said Leonardo Barbero, President of Products and Enterprise Sales for Cirion Technologies. “Our top goal is to stay on top of new network demands and continuously deliver robust, high-quality services across our network and data center infrastructure. As demand increases, becomes more complex or changes, our platform will adapt to ensure we’re offering the best digital experience possible.”

Cirion’s Housing and Colocation Services: Credit Card Data Transit Securely through their Data Centers

Its data centers in the region have obtained PCI-DSS compliance after a successful evaluation process assessing compliance with its requirements. This ensures the security of credit card data passing through the company’s data centers, and is aimed primarily at preventing fraud, attacks, and data loss.

BUENOS AIRES, May 04, 2023 – To continue ensuring the security of customer information, Cirion Technologies, a leading digital infrastructure and technology provider, has finalized the 2023 assessment process for the PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard), and maintained compliance with requirements 9, 11.1 and 12 (applicable to service providers) in its data centers in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Curitiba (Brazil), Bogota (Colombia XV and SUBA) and Cali (Colombia), Quito (Carcelén) and Guayaquil (Ecuador), Lima (Peru), Santiago (Chile) and Buenos Aires (Argentina). Additionally, there are the Landing Station in Lurín (Peru) and the Teleport in the Argentine capital.

For any company working with confidential data, such as personal or banking information, adopting security measures is critical as it helps organizations and administrative entities protect and transmit more confidence to their users.

This compliance validates the security of credit card data transiting through Cirion’s data centers, and its main objective is to prevent fraud, attacks, and data loss.

PCI-DSS is an international security standard established by the PCI Security Standards Council, an organization founded by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB and Discover, for companies that store, process, or transmit card data.

“This compliance represents an important competitive differential and signals the market that we meet the corporate demands of our customers in e-commerce, banking, finance, and other associated industries who need the peace of mind from knowing that their IT services are hosted on a service provider focused on its customer’s information security”, commented Alexandre Simcsik, Director of Data Center Operations at Cirion.

Cirion operates one of the most interconnected carrier-neutral data center platforms in Latin America, with 18 data centers of its own.  Its portfolio of services offers an IT platform to support business applications with cloud and security solutions, as well as infrastructure such as Hosting and Colocation, developed with an architecture based on strict physical and logical security standards to offer reliable services.

Scalable Networks: the key to connecting millions of users all at onc

Scalable Networks: the key to connecting millions of users all at onc

This computing systems capability is critical at times when operational loads increase exponentially, such as during the Qatar 2022 tournament, where millions of users connected simultaneously to watch a game.

There are more smart devices connected to the Internet every day. In fact, according to the Plume IQ Smart Home Market Report, the number of connected devices per home currently averages 17.1 – 10% more than the 15.5 reported in the first half of 2021. Europe registers the largest increase, going from 15.4 to 17.4 – 13% more.

Faced with this continuous increase in new users, the only way for networks to continue operating with the same speed and data transfer standards is to be scalable, which means that they can react and adapt without losing the quality of their processes.

This computing systems capability is critical in times when operational loads increase exponentially, such as during the Qatar 2022 tournament, where millions of users connected simultaneously to watch a game.

“There are circumstances where the existing internet architecture cannot keep up with user demand,” comments Alejandro Girardotti, Senior Director of Products, Innovation and Strategic Alliances at Cirion Technologies. “At such times, relying on distributed systems and hybrid architectures, that is, the interaction of private and public clouds, as well as traditional and Edge data centers, makes it easier to scale resources up and down to accommodate heavier or lighter loads as needed.”

In Latin America, Cirion Technologies counts on 50,000 kilometers of terrestrial long-haul and metropolitan fiber optics, as well as 36,000 km of submarine cables and 18 landing stations, setting a structure that allows it to operate with scalable networks capable of adapting to the increase in connected users without having them experience a slower navigation.

“Our infrastructure adapts dynamically and in real time to market demands, enabling an efficient management of critical applications and their data, which makes it possible for companies to identify market trends in advance and respond quickly, with solutions that stimulate future growth,” says the Cirion executive.

According to Statista, there will be 996 million connected devices in Latin America next year, and 1.2 billion connections are expected by 2025 – approximately 64% will be for consumers, including devices for smart homes, wearables, and autonomous vehicles, among others.

Given this scenario, Girardotti states that “this exponential growth of mobile users, IoT devices, Cloud applications, among others, represents new demands on networks, which will have to continue optimizing and upgrading in order to scale and deliver the necessary performance required by users.”

Cirion adds Zoom Phone to its managed Unified Communications solutions portfolio

A corporate telephony solution that powers video collaboration. The Zoom Phone service allows users to have the best collaboration tools while enabling access to voice calls through the public network.

BUENOS AIRES, May 2, 2023 – Today, many business activities occur in several platforms and the hybrid work format brought a series of online solutions to support remote work and improve employees’ productivity, efficiency, and comfort.  However, when it comes to seeking solutions that favor connectivity between teams, we are faced with a frequent problem: communications platforms.

Many times, the systems available to workgroups haven’t been updated to the features required by new working formats. The solution to this issue will arrive with Zoom’s latest release: Zoom Phone.

“At Cirion, we have deployed this new tool as a service, offering companies and institutions support in defining their needs, integration of their own network services, and customized management adjusted to corporations’ business needs,” explains Pablo Landea, Voice & Collaboration Product Manager at Cirion Technologies.

Zoom Phone is a modern, private corporate telephony platform that offers Software as a Service (SaaS). This solution integrates collaboration capabilities for customers who want to maintain their own video communications, allows users to have the best collaboration tools and, at the same time, enables access to voice calling services over the public network (PSTN), among other features.

“Zoom’s entire platform space was specifically designed to function as a whole. Consequently, user experience is intuitive, it automates tasks, simplifies management, and allows them to work from anywhere, including hybrid environments,” adds Landea.

Whether through Zoom’s marketplace or other manufacturers’ ecosystems, Zoom Phone can be integrated with Microsoft Office 365, MS Teams, Salesforce, and Zendesk environments and several contact center and customer experience applications. Additionally, the platform guarantees a 99.999% voice and video service level.

This system was developed as a unified concept within the Zoom public cloud application ecosystem so that the platform offers workgroups chat, private telephony, whiteboard, meetings, and events, and enables access to other applications that possess artificial intelligence services bringing the possibility of integration to other developers to add value to each business’ workflows.

For Cirion’s executive, “the Zoom Phone application was designed as a cloud solution for corporate private telephony so it can be easily integrated with other infrastructures and is compatible with a wide range of user devices and meeting rooms to support each customer’s needs in a customized manner.”

The unified communications platform has centralized management that provides reports, call monitoring and even allows recording and encryption, for caller security. This way, the company that adopts this tool maintains its telephone lines and, in addition, allows employees to have an extension on their mobile phones while expanding communications – from chat to call and from call to videoconference.

The key values delivered by Zoom Phone are:

  1. Quality and Security
  2. Simplified user experiences
  3. Easy handling for platform administrators
  4. Ability to integrate with legacy systems’ migration needs
  5. Agility and continuous innovation without the need for further investments

For companies, Zoom Phone offers – among other benefits – reduced operational costs, increased profitability for better productivity, significant improvement in effectiveness for users, and access to a simplified collaborative environment.

The Zoom Phone service will be available through Cirion, a provider that integrates its own network services to manage the solution.
