Cirion – Diversity as a Business Logo

The company celebrates Pride Month by highlighting its journey in terms of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) over the last years.

More than 4 years ago, Cirion began a journey of great empowerment and commitment to the DEI agenda, conducting a multiple-instance process and implementing various actions to review practices, beliefs, ways of acting and decision-making, to actively involve its leadership teams on how people engage in the organization.

Cirion works on a daily basis convinced of embracing the DEI agenda in its broadest sense: cultural, gender, disability, generational and other intersectional dimensions. As far as sexual diversity is concerned, they strive to create respectful workspaces. As stated by Ana María Morales, SR Talent Development Consultant at Cirion: “Generating strategies to drive respect for sexual diversity is of the essence for our company, not only because it enables talent attraction and retention but because it allows a healthier, more innovative, enriching work environment, where our collaborators can be themselves and feel valued.

Between 2020 and 2022, the company conducted a cycle of talks and meetings addressing concepts, categories, statistics and data on sexual diversity, identities, biases, microaggressions, trans work experiences, violence and harassment in work environments, just to mention a few.

Starting in 2023 and as a result of these reflection and awareness spaces, the company put into practice the lessons learned by creating the Circles of Trust in DEI, i.e., working groups integrated by volunteering employees of the company who met regularly in August and November of that year. Four thematic axes were addressed: cultural diversity, sexual diversity, gender and generations and approximately 80 employees from the following different countries participated: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and the United States.

Andrea J. Dubcovsky, HR Analyst at Cirion, reflected on this process: “Saying we are diverse is not enough. We must demonstrate it by actions. Because sexual diversity – like any other – can give us different perspectives, practices and scopes, as well as expanding our mental horizons.”

Meetings were safe, respectful and confidential, promoting listening and collaborative learning and with a clear goal: to design a Work Plan for the upcoming years to spotlight diversity as a business brand.

Specifically, in the Circle of Trust on Sexual Diversity, company challenges were identified, designing short and medium term strategic lines of work and actions to address those challenges.

In 2024, the Circles of Trust adopted another format and today they are the Employee Resource Group (ERG) made up of collaborators who wanted to continue working on these issues. In June, the Pride Month, the Sexual Diversity ERG will host two general talks for all Latin America: one on biases facilitated by Pride Connection Chile, and another one on Sexual Diversity in Sports, by Argentina’s Ciervos Pampas Rugby Club.

For Andrea J. Dubcovsky “this is a respectful, vibrant space, full of ideas, eager and driven to learn from theory and preferably from good practices already implemented by other companies that have taken this path.”

Company leaders of these initiatives ensure that diversity improves daily work and enhances creativity, as well as that of the talents that are part of the company. In Ana María Morales words “Working in the Committee definitely shows us the importance of collective action to build a culture of respect and equity. Although we have come a long way, we are aware there is still much to do, and this is the challenge we face.”
