Cirion Technologies enhances its leadership team

Diego Mahecha joins Cirion’s Senior Leadership Team.

MIAMI, December 02, 2022 –   To enhance its leadership team, Cirion Technologies, leading provider of digital infrastructure and technology, welcomed Diego Mahecha as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development.

Diego takes on the position with the responsibility for developing, leading, and executing Cirion’s acquisition strategy, coupled with the expansion of its infrastructure, products, and services, to support its customers’ ongoing digital transformation and create added value.

With an MBA from the University of Virginia (Darden) and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the City University of New York, Diego brings to the company a vast experience in mergers and acquisitions of digital infrastructure in emerging markets, including Latina America, and possesses more than 20 years of experience as a financial market executive focused on digital infrastructure.  He worked at Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, and Lehman Brothers/Barclays in New York and London, and more recently acted as Managing Director and Chief of Digital Infrastructure for the Americas, in Nomura Securities.

“It’s a privilege to accept this new challenge, especially in a company with a trajectory such as Cirion’s in Latin America. The technology market is more dynamic than ever, with companies seeking the opportunities of digital media. I am thrilled and confident of the success of this new professional stage in my life”, commented Mahecha.

At the beginning of 2022, Cirion announced the incorporation of two important market executives, who also became part of its regional leadership team: Tatiana Fonseca as EVP of Operations, and Luciano Parola as EVP and CIO.

Cirion’s leadership team already counts on the experience of Leonardo Barbero as President and EVP of Products and Enterprise Sales, Gabriel Holgado as EVP of Global Sales, Emilio Madero as EVP of Marketing, Marcelo Melamed as EVP of Human Resources, Valeria Plastino as EVP General Counsel and Pablo Hubaide as EVP and CFO. They are all experienced professionals with almost two decades in the company, led by their CEO, Facundo Castro.

In August, Stonepeak completed, for $2.7 billion, the acquisition of the Latin American operations of Lumen Technologies, later renamed Cirion Technologies, Inc. The company serves more than 6,400 companies in Latin America, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela.  The company counts on a terrestrial network infrastructure of 31,000 miles, a subsea network of 22,370 miles, and 18 data centers in Latin America.

Recently, Cirion announced that it is investing in high-bandwidth Ethernet architecture to deliver upgraded Ethernet services to more than 14 major cities in Latin America and the expansion of its managed network services, with Secure SD-WAN.

Additionally, the company has just received Frost & Sullivan’s Company of the Year Award for Corporate Services in Latin America 2022 and the Leadership in Competitive Strategy Award 2022, recognizing the company for its excellence in best practices in Latin America’s data center services industry.
