Cirion warns of risks amid 60% cloud boom

  • The cloud will grow 60% in Latin America by 2030, raising connectivity and security risks.
  • Cirion strengthens its regional leadership with private interconnection for critical cloud workloads.

Tuesday, February 25, 2026. With the pace of cloud computing growth in Latin America — estimated at 60% by 2030 — enterprise connectivity infrastructure in the region faces mounting pressure, according to Cirion Technologies. As more companies host critical workloads in multicloud environments, security and business continuity risks increase when the public internet is used as the access medium.

Currently, nearly all companies in the region use applications or infrastructure hosted in public clouds, and many use hybrid or multicloud models. However, traditional internet infrastructure was not designed to support critical, high-availability business applications, leading to unpredictable latencies and reduced control and security in the event of cybersecurity incidents.

“Companies have successfully transitioned to the cloud; now the challenge is to provide connectivity capable of supporting critical applications and regulated environments. Private connectivity is no longer a competitive advantage but a fundamental requirement for secure and predictable operations,” said Andrés Cáceres, Director of Product and Development of Cirion Technologies.

According to Tenable Research, nearly 1 in 10 public cloud environments contains exposed sensitive information — a risk particularly concerning for industries such as banking, healthcare, energy, and public services. In this scenario, models such as Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) are emerging as alternatives to provide private, predictable interconnections that are fully aligned with regulatory and operational requirements.

Cirion Technologies drives this evolution through Cloud Connect, a solution for direct interconnection with the leading cloud providers. Its proposal is supported by the company’s extensive terrestrial and submarine fiber infrastructure in the region, as well as end-to-end SLAs designed for critical environments.

Key Figures

  • 60%: projected cloud growth in Latin America by 2030, equivalent to adding in just four years the entire cloud capacity Brazil incorporated in the last decade.
  • Nearly 100% of companies already operate in hybrid or multicloud models, from banks to retailers processing millions of daily transactions.
  • 1 in 10 public cloud environments exposes sensitive data, meaning that in a company with 100 applications, at least 10 could be vulnerable.
