Cirion Expands its Fiber Optic Network in Mexico Connecting Queretaro to Mexico City
With this new underground fiber duct, Cirion’s infrastructure and network expansion offers customers faster and enhanced connectivity options.
MIAMI, FL. – December, 10, 2024 – Cirion Technologies, a leading digital infrastructure and technology provider in Latin America, continues to expand its fiber network in Mexico, with a new AI-ready fiber duct, enhancing our connectivity between Mexico City and Querétaro. This expansion aims to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure to our customers, who require dedicated connectivity, IT infrastructure, and cloud presence in the region.
After signing a strategic agreement with Gold Data, Cirion is expanding its presence connecting data hubs in Mexico City and Queretaro. This move strengthens our AI-ready infrastructure by securing an underground duct, which will be used to expand Cirion’s fiber network in the region.
“This highlights Cirion’s continued efforts to increase its investments in fiber infrastructure, in order to address its customers ever-expanding needs,” commented Diego Mahecha, EVP of Corporate Development at Cirion Technologies. “We trust this new route will allow us to effectively address our customers’ specific needs for dedicated access as well as strengthen our network redundancy in this important region in Mexico”.
Additionally, Cirion invested in new metropolitan networks with state-of-the-art optical technology to triple the size of the current footprint and bring fiber connectivity to new locations in three cities, including 73 km metropolitan rings in Guadalajara,~200 km in Monterrey, and +260 km in Mexico City.
Cirion’s national ring in Mexico currently spans approximately +4,260 km and is connected by international routes in Monterrey. The Cirion PAC (Pan-American Crossing) submarine cable system also connects Mexico with Los Angeles, CA in the United States, as well as Costa Rica and Panama in Central America.
“We understand the importance of expanding and renewing our infrastructure to provide high-quality services to our customers through fast and secure connections. Cirion will continue investing in the region to support business growth and government initiatives,” said Leonardo Barbero, President of the Connectivity Business Unit, at Cirion Technologies. “This reaffirms our commitment to the development of our network, not only in Mexico but in the region.”
