In its new Sustainability Report, under GRI standards and aligned with the United Nations SDGs, Cirion reports 100% renewable energy in four countries and verifiable progress in environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance.

Each query to an artificial intelligence model travels through cables, is processed in a data center, and consumes energy. Behind the rise of AI is a physical infrastructure that is growing at an unprecedented rate in Latin America, and with it its energy demand. In this context, Cirion Technologies, a leading provider of the digital infrastructure that supports the region’s connectivity, today published its fourth Sustainability Report: by 2025 it reduced its total emissions by 11% and guaranteed 100% renewable energy in its data centers in four countries, while the demand for computing for AI continued to accelerate.

Sustainability at scale for the region’s critical infrastructure

Cirion operates the network and data centers on which the digital services of companies, governments, operators and hyperscalers run in Latin America: more than 54,500 km of terrestrial network, more than 50,433 km of subsea network and 20 carrier-neutral data centers serving more than 5,500 customers. During 2025, it put into operation two new data centers, SAN2, in Chile, and LIM2, in Peru, prepared for the intensive processing loads associated with artificial intelligence. At that scale, each energy efficiency measure and each renewable energy point has a measurable effect. The report was prepared in accordance with the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and aligns its initiatives with the 2030 Agenda and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A more efficient operation with more renewable energy

In 2025, Cirion reduced its total greenhouse gas emissions by 11% compared to 2024, a reduction equivalent to avoiding the annual emissions of nearly 3,000 cars, with falls of 10.3% in Scope 2 (market-based) and 13.4% in Scope 3. The company guarantees 100% renewable energy, through I-REC certificates, in its data centers in Peru, Brazil, Colombia and Chile, with additional renewable coverage of 60% in Ecuador and 40% in Argentina, and sets the goal of 100% renewable energy for each new data center. An artificial intelligence module incorporated into its DCIM platform reduced the consumption of HVAC systems by 13.8% in the BOG2 data center in Bogotá, with regional expansion planned for 2026.

In the circular economy, the company managed 64.4 tonnes of waste during the year with 40.9% recycled and recovered more than 6 tonnes of materials and equipment for reuse.

“Sustainability is no longer a complementary exercise but a fundamental dimension of business management. Today, 96% of the world’s 250 largest companies report ESG or sustainability information, up from only 35% in 1999. At the same time, the GRI standards, under which Cirion develops its Sustainability Report, are used by companies representing 62% of global market capitalization. These figures show how much the expectation of companies has evolved: it is no longer enough to grow, we must also demonstrate how we do it.”  Valeria Plastino, EVP, General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer.

Governance and digital trust

In 2025, Cirion updated its double materiality analysis to integrate ESG issues into corporate strategy and decision-making, under the supervision of the Board through an ESG Subcommittee. 99% of employees, including 100% of the Board of Directors, completed mandatory trainings on ethics, anti-corruption, data protection and compliance. The company recorded no security incidents or breaches compromising sensitive information or personal data during the year, and strengthened its privacy management with the implementation of the OneTrust platform.

In its value chain, Cirion worked with more than 4,400 suppliers and business partners in the region; 100% of active suppliers adhered to its Supplier Code of Conduct, with commitments to ethics, human rights and sustainability.

People: diverse talent and well-being

With more than 2,300 employees in more than 11 countries, Cirion recorded a higher hiring rate of women (13%) than men (12%) and strengthened its initiatives for female leadership, inclusion and diversity in technology. 100% of employees received performance evaluations and reinforced their training in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, networking and leadership together with allies such as Digital House, INE and the University of Palermo.

The health and safety management system covers 100% of the employees in the region; more than 1,000 people participated in preventive culture initiatives and the company was recognized by ARL SURA as a Healthy Company for its physical and mental well-being programs.

Responsible growth for Latin America

As the demand for digital infrastructure accelerates, sustainability becomes a competitiveness factor for the sector. In 2025, Cirion allocated USD 63,600 to social programs and civil society organizations in Latin America, for the benefit of vulnerable communities through education, employability, economic development, and child support initiatives, in line with SDGs 1, 4, and 8.
