His appointment brings a Latin American perspective to the GLF’s governing body at a time when the region is changing its position in global connectivity.
Miami and London, 29 September 2026. The Global Leaders’ Forum (GLF) announced the appointment of Santiago Londoño, CEO of Cirion, to its Board. Londoño will be the first Colombian to join the Board and will formally take up his position during Capacity Europe, to be held in London from 13 to 15 October.
Bandwidth usage in Latin America grew at an annual rate of 34% between 2020 and 2024 and is projected to maintain growth of close to 30% per year through 2030. In 2025, the region’s international bandwidth usage exceeded 400 Tbps.
At the same time, the expansion of cloud, content and artificial intelligence, together with new subsea routes, is strengthening the infrastructure connecting the region with North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. As a result, Latin America is playing an increasingly important role in data transit and interconnection.
Cirion operates more than 105,000 kilometres of terrestrial and subsea fibre across 20 countries in Latin America, as well as 18 landing stations and six international subsea systems. Londoño’s appointment brings to the Board a perspective grounded in operating infrastructure that connects markets and digital ecosystems across Latin America.
“Santiago Londoño’s appointment to the Board brings a particularly relevant perspective at a time when data flows, subsea infrastructure and connectivity demand are reshaping the global digital architecture. His experience leading critical infrastructure in Latin America will broaden the GLF’s discussions and contribute to our agenda around trust, interoperability and innovation,” said Enrico Bagnasco, Chair of the Global Leaders’ Forum.
Santiago Londoño, CEO of Cirion, said: “Latin America can no longer be viewed solely as a destination market for global traffic. The growth of cloud, content and artificial intelligence, together with new international routes, is changing our region’s role within the digital architecture. Bringing to the GLF the experience of operating infrastructure that connects markets and ecosystems across Latin America is an opportunity to contribute a regional perspective to a conversation with global impact.”
The Global Leaders’ Forum brings together senior executives from connectivity and digital infrastructure companies to advance an industry agenda focused on trust and interoperability.
