MIAMI, May 28, 2025 – Cirion Technologies, a leading provider of digital infrastructure and technology in Latin America, is excited to announce the development of seven new Metro Access Zones, fifteen new PoPs (Points of Presence) across Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico and Peru, and increased network capacity.
These expansions significantly strengthen our network infrastructure, reinforcing our commitment to delivering advanced connectivity solutions and supporting the growing demand for high-speed internet and advanced telecommunications services. This facilitates digital transformation and innovation across the region.
Mayor Capacidad de Red
Cirion has continued expanding its fiber network across Latin America, adding over 1,580km of long-haul routes and 447 km of metro fiber in 2024. This expansion has contributed to our terrestrial optical network capacity, bringing it to 668 Tb/s, and has enhanced our peering capabilities, enabling traffic exchange of over 34 Tb/s with other providers. These advancements have strengthened our ability to expand coverage, enhance capacity, and interconnect third-party data centers to our neutral pan-Latin American network. Additionally, we have increased capacity across various segments of our submarine cable systems, which now offer a total capacity of approximately 199,4 Tb/s.
New Metro Access Zones
Cirion has established seven new Metro Access Zones in Saltillo, Aguascalientes and León in México, Cajamarca in Perú, Bogotá, Bogotá – Funza, and Cúcuta in Colombia. These zones feature advanced Data Transport and Metro/IP technologies enhancing ASN 3356 backbone, supported by extensive Fiber Access networks. These add to the more than 110 existing Metro Access Zones in the region and further consolidate Cirion’s presence and capacity to offer advanced connectivity solutions, ensuring robust and reliable connectivity.
New PoPs
Additionally, Cirion has developed twelve new backbone PoPs and expanded three existing ones. New PoPs were developed in Aracaju, Curitiba, Santa Clara, and Recife in Brazil; Monterrey and Durango in México; Av Los Ventos (ST1), Amunategui (ST3) and Valparaiso in Chile, Zona Franca Bogotá, Cali and Tocancipá in Colombia; Arequipa in Perú and San Jose in Costa Rica. The expanded PoPs were in Almafuerte, Argentina, Governador Valadares, Brazil and Trujillo, Perú.
The new backbone PoPs are equipped with Data Transport, Metro/IP and ASN 3356 Internet network, supported by multiple footprints and substantial KVA energy capacity, ensuring high availability and reliability. These add to the more than 840 backbone PoPs that Cirion already has in the region, strengthening our infrastructure and capacity to offer high-quality telecommunications services. Businesses can leverage these PoPs for improved network resilience, scalability, and energy efficiency.
“This network expansion is a testament to our commitment to providing our customers with the most advanced and reliable connectivity solutions across Latin America. It will empower businesses to thrive in the digital age, ensuring seamless communication, enhanced operational efficiency, and sustained growth,” said Santiago Londoño, President of the Connectivity business unit at Cirion Technologies. “We look forward to continuing our journey of technological progress and delivering unparalleled service to our valued customers.”
Enhanced infrastructure supports critical applications, data centers, and cloud services providing businesses with the flexibility to adapt to changing demands and technological advancements.
